Cloche Hat Pattern- Felt Hats- Fleece Hat Patterns and Instruction For Sewing

I love vintage hats, the cloche hats of the 1920s!
Cloches were close-fitting hats that were worn quite low - almost down to the eyebrows. They were made in a variety of styles from brimless to turned-up brims.
This hats is easy to make.
I have been wanting to make one of these. I think you look great in this style too. I use the starch to stiffen the brim.

The straight line tunic is my favorite for both modern and vintage wear. It will go both ways nicely; it all depends on the accessories!
Easy to sew is one thing; these are a sure-fire formula for a comfortable piece you won't ever want to take off.

I was originally going to use a modern Vogue pattern I purchased just for this challenge but then I saw your 1920s simple dress and I'm now making that! I was a little nervous with the folding and cutting method but the muslin came out nice so I am confident to cut the good fabric now!

Infinity Scarf Sewing Pattern

Today I have an infinity scarf pattern for you. It’s a great beginner project and only takes 30 minutes to make. I made a bunch of these for Christmas gifts this last and they were a big hit.
You can use any light-weight fabric for the infinity scarf.
Use whatever you like and whatever makes you feel fabulous!
Get creative and make it your own!
Materials Needed:
• Fabric Length: 65" Width: 27"
• Scissors
• Sewing machine
• Thread
• Hand sewing needle
• Iron and ironing board
Directions:
1. Select your fabric. Cut your fabric in half lengthwise so that it measures approximately length: 65" width: 27”. I leave the selvage on the fabric as this will be hidden on the inside of the scarf.
2. Fold your fabric in half lengthwise and pin right sides together (so that the pattern is on the inside). You will have a long rectangle of fabric.
3. Sew along the length of your infinity scarf where you just pinned. Make sure you just sew along the length of the fabric, don’t do anything with the ends yet. When you are done you will have a very long tube.
4. Lay your scarf on your ironing board with the seam in the middle of the scarf. Using the tip of your iron press open the seam.
5. Flip your scarf so that it is right side out.
Reach inside the tube from one end and grab the other end. Start pulling the scarf inside itself with right sides together.
6. Fold you infinity scarf in half so that the two open ends are laying on top of each other.
With the two ends of your scarf in your hands find the seam that you just pressed open.
Pinch together so that the seams are lined up and the right side of the fabric is facing each other. Pin.
7. Start stitching around the circle leaving a half inch seam allowance.
This should leave you a couple of inches to flip the scarf back right side out and hand stitch the remainder.
8. Tuck the raw edges inside the hole and pinch together.
You can stitch it closed using a hand slipstitch, or you can edge stitch it on the machine using matching or invisible thread.
Once you've closed all the openings, press your infinity scarf and your new accessory is complete!

Your infinity scarf or loop scarf is ready to wear! It’s a nice versatile accessory for spring, and it also makes a great gift for all ages. Double it up or just wear it long for a different look Wearing your infinity scarf: When I first tried on my infinity scarf I had the scarf laying flat.
Make sure that your scarf doesn’t lay flat. Pull the two sides of the tube away from each other and fluff it up so it gives a fuller appearance. Loop it around your neck twice and puff up if necessary.

A Balaclava Free Sewing Pattern

That made me think, a lot of people come to this blog through searches for "balaclava pattern". What is the balaclava?
A close-fitting, knitted o sewing cap that covers the head, neck, and tops of the shoulders, worn especially by mountain climbers, soldiers, skiers, etc.

I found this free pattern in last night online for a fleece balaclava. I made one this morning in about an hour.
Material: fleece.
With fleece being soft and warm, it has become a fabric many want to have as a hat. There are many colors of fleece fabrics available.

The main thing - do not confuse the inner and outer side of the fabric - for a fleece-like material that matters. Outside air has to pass better than inside.

How do it - fold the fabric so that the sides found each other with the entanglement of approximately 0.5 cm, and chop off so Topstitch seam "zigzag". Get a flat seam, reliable, and a little more comfortable, but it will be visible from the outside.

Remember: If sewing using a flat-stitch technique seam allowances are not needed. Otherwise if making a normal seam add a 5 mm seam allowance when cutting.

Lining (optional)

If you have chosen to add a lining, follow these steps. Sew an identical hat from lining fabric .If you want a edge using stretch binding, turn the lining inside out and place inside the hat. Sew close to the edge with a long stitch (temporary) . If a finished seam is wanted, sew the hat and lining around the edge, right sides together leaving a 5cm gap. Pull the lining through this gap, and finish the 5 cm hole by hand or by top-stitching.

A balaclava, like a ski mask, is a warm, close-fitting winter hat that's designed to keep your head and neck warm in winter weather. Balaclava-style hats can be worn underneath military or bicycle helmets. With basic sewing skills, you can make a fleece balaclava to keep you cozy this winter. I am looking for a pattern to sew a balaclava and or a pilots cap. I found this free balaclava sewing pattern online for a fleece balaclava.
It is balaclava sewing pattern: From .75 m of 150 cm wide double-sided synthetic fleece, cut 2 balaclava pieces, using pattern. With right sides together and edges even, sew each together from notch to notch around centre-back edge using 13 mm (1/2-in) seam allowance and leaving face and neck edges open. If desired, clip seam allowance around each centre back; open out seam allowance and machine-zigzag along each edge. Turn right side out.
